Something creative this way comes…

Currently working on the visuals for a hush-hush side project for the great team at ‘Creative Boom’, something that I/we hope will be big for 2010/2011..and thoroughly enjoying it!!

A bit of a facelift coming soon…

Damn! Design styles on the web shift pretty quickly. The site design at present is only just over a year old, and the poor thing (well in my eyes anyway) is in need of a overhaul.

It’s time, in between client projects, to get my design hat back on and create something a little more 2010!?!

Lets see what Santa brings!!

There’s a New Creative community on the block!

Check out the fantastic new hub/community for design creatives in the UK and beyond! It’s called Creative Boom, Here’s a little snippet from the site itself.

The site was first dreamt up on Twitter by editor, Katy Cowan, after she realised that creatives were crying out for a place where they could meet and greet, share ideas and find out about everything that’s happening in their profession. Launched in July 2009, Creative Boom aims to support freelancers and businesses of all sizes, helping them to gain new contacts, secure more work and have a wide range of useful information at their fingertips.

Looks promising, take a look here Creative Boom.co.uk

Note to self…treat my blog better !!

Here i am, designing sites for clients with blogging functionality (well in a few cases anyway), and my blog after all that has been left to wither!! Not by choice, or laziness, its just finding the time to put something down….maybe i ditch the blog on the next design update? but what about the possible SEO boost? damn, i’ll dwell on that one.

The blog functionality i have included into some of my clients sites has been great for their listings, the good ‘ol SEO boost like i mentioned, bookmarking, fresh, well written content etc.. I think the old adage ‘Practice what you Preach’, stands very true here!!

No rest for the wicked !!

Phew, have I had time to update my blog…erm, no! (that is obvious!!) Having been a busy chap, with some really great projects that I have thoroughly enjoyed working on. I’ll be adding them to my Portfolio section soon……….Now I need to go and chill out!!

This is how to design a Blog …

Blog designs used to be a very sombre affair… shiny blue header, recent posts in a nice list on the right, a splash of bright colour here and there ! But not now…oooh no! ‘Smashing Magazine’ have posted up some right little beauties to get your creative juices flowing, take a look at the fine little specimens here.

Wordpress Templates … ya gonna get some !!

Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I will be posting up a few of my own, original designs for anyone and everyone to use in ‘Wordpress’, not sure what kind of designs to use yet, but they will be a mixed bag (something for everyone!) So keep checking back for regular updates, Ta!!

It’s Alive … alliivveeee !!

Well after more than a few months my site re-design is now complete !! Why does it take so damn long ? You are your own worst critic I suppose and this is your calling card after all so it has to be A1. I am pleased with the design aesthetic of the new site and feel the more natural, personal style of it is what I as a freelancer are about. The functionality and accessibility was a major point for me when developing the new site, as well as the overall styling which I wanted to be a tighter, fresher version of the last site (1.0)…Hope you enjoy it !!

Word up, it’s here …

Yup, Wordpress 2.5 is now available! And they have excelled with this major revision, just making something great that little bit greater. It has come on leaps and bounds since it’s inception, and has grown into a damn fine CMS system in it’s own right. I have seen some really great designs recently using WP as the backbone (and no, not just ‘Kubrick’ looking themes!!) And that is the beauty about WP, its adaptability … amongst many, many other things.
